Description

This intensive course is designed for beginners who have not studied Finnish before, as well as for those who have some prior knowledge but need to revise the basics. During the course, participants will become familiar with the fundamentals of the Finnish language under the guidance of an experienced teacher. The teacher can explain topics in several languages, including Russian. Throughout the course, we will practice correct pronunciation, learn to read and understand texts, become familiar with basic grammar, and learn how to combine words into sentences and communicate in Finnish. The course is based on the textbook “Suomea suomeksi”, which can be borrowed from a library: https://helmet.finna.fi/Record/helmet.2162099?sid=5250271600 The course is delivered online during the winter holiday week from 17:30 to 18:30 between 14 February and 21 February 2026 on the following dates: 14 Feb, 15 Feb, 16 Feb, 17 Feb, 18 Feb, 19 Feb, 20 Feb, 21 Feb 2026. The time and/or days of instruction may be adjusted during the course based on participants’ wishes. If a participant suggests a change and it suits the rest of the group, the change can be implemented. The course includes 8 sessions (60 minutes per session).
